Surrealism and mythology are a potent combination and these are what define a lot of the work achieved by the intense K. Muralidharan, whose early life was determined by tales of yore and that of gods and goddesses. In his own words he is what he calls himself a ‘refined surrealist’ – and this factor enables him to achieve a grand parade of gorgeous images that probably won’t fit into a conventional description. A lot of what one gets to see is the result of childhood imprints of the surroundings and a life of that time. While all may not be the way they were the residual impressions are still vibrant and vivid. They could almost be the echo of some mythical tales told by the proverbial grandmother, who would spin them out on a balmy dusky twilight hour when the trees sway to the light breeze and the emerging moon on a clear bright sky.
