Far from the Urban

  Paper,Chalk Mitti,Glue,Watercolor

My work revolves around the changing climate of the city, memories from my village life, mythology and folk stories. Through my works I connect with the nature and the damages happening to it in current times and how it impacts our culture and society. In large my works narrates about nature – jal, jameen, jungle, jantu and its climatic and contemporary society by bringing in quip chronicles which I portray uniquely using materials like paper pulp, chalk mitti, adhesive, watercolor or acrylic color giving it a two or three-dimensional approach. Sometimes the work also says in a vivid metaphoric language, which may reflect dramatically or disgracefully. Overall, it takes a critical view of socio-political, cultural and environmental issues referencing from Indian modern history and mythology. In ancient period, every aspect of natural elements had a scientifically value, and people respect for those as their religious purposes and how this has change gradually into a communal circus now. In the current climate, where many believe history and myth has no relevance, I find myself continually returning to those aspects that are often hidden or misrepresented in the official recordings for posterity. Now I am working with site-specific land art in public spaces and making sculpture, mural and installations as my studio practices.
