Lost Memories

  Lost Memories Wood

I have been trying to project the idea of culture and identity loss consistently through my works, which comprise of paintings and installations. My first set of installations are a part of a series called ‘Museum’ which talks about displacement of culture and how fragments of heritage are split and housed in different places where they become relics of the past and start loosing their significance. The work itself consists of bright red wooden boxes in which are placed miniature structures similar to the ones found in old havelis like lamps, bureaus, and toys among others. These objects are reconstructed as museum collectibles, giving them due importance since they have disappeared from our everyday life. The traditional use of wood plays a special role in these works.
